This will depend on which style or styles you are training in. One of the major reasons many people train in our kick boxing classes is the physical exercise element of the training. Many who train in RSD are comfortable with the full contact aspect entailed. Our Wing Chun classes have a far less physical emphasis. Having said all of this we are conscious of the huge difference in the physical abilities of our students and so we tailor our classes in a way which will challenge you physically but not in a way which will push you too far too quickly.
Traditionally Wing Chun kicking techniques were kept low in order to ascertain balance and increase the effectiveness of the techniques being shown. Some instructors choose to teach high kicking movements, but Wing Chun in the RSDA resists such temptation as more effective techniques are delivered when kicks are low.
Traditionally, a very small amount, however to truely appreciate the strengths of any system you must experiment and RSDA wing chun students to engage in some grappling based training so that they can appreciate how good Wing Chun really is.
This largely depends on how often you train and how much committment you put into your training. In all of our programmes you will see positive results in weeks not months.

Many people are scared of the prospect of being hurt whilst training in any form of martial arts programme. At the RSDA academy we allow students to participate in the activities they want to at the level they want to do it. This reduces the chance of injury by 99%. We have a very effective system for monitoring students and we use this system to make sure everyone is having innjury free FUN...
